Ya. It is not too cold in October and would be fine for kids. just be wary of the rains. There are a lot of homestay options in coorg which are affordable and pleasant. Try Naadmane if u r a big group of people. Or just look for coorg homestays on google and the website gives u a list of all available homestays in coorg. you can choose based on the location preference and budget
