Kedarnath trek is a wonderful trek,but the route is closed in January due to extreme weather conditions. The Kedarnath Trek route opens in mid May till October end. You don't need to take any packages. Trek on your own and there are plenty of accommodation options on the route and near temple.
If weather conditions permits you then do trek to Vasota lake by taking permission from Army camps nears Kedarnath temple.
