Chirala ( pronunciation ) is a town in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and also the headquarters of Chirala mandal. As of 2011 the town had a population of 87,200 and an urban agglomeration population of 162,471. The name has been derived from its ancient age name Ksheera Puri ('sea looks as white as milk').It was in Taluk of Guntur District, and later became part of then formed Prakasam District. a b 'Census 2011'.
