Yuksom a small village In West Sikkim district and only 40 k.m. from Pelling. It's the entry gate of famous Goechala trek. Yumsom is also bird lovers paradise and heaven for nature lovers also.
On 3rd March 2021 My wife and me reaches Yuksom from Pelling, on the way we visited Kanchanjunga Water Falls and Khechiperi Lake. We fall in Love with Yuksom in first sight. We stayed at Chunda Homestay which is at the end of the village at very calm place. The homestay was nice, clean rooms but toile is not attached. We stayed four nights at Yuksom. The food at the homestay was also very good, in one word the homestay was excellent.
Routine for those days are fixed and very simple. Every day we woke up at 5 a.m started birding near by, return at homestay took our breakfast then again birding at Kanchanjunga National Park on the way to Goechala. Return to Homestay take rest and had lunch, again birding at near by villages. Return took evening snacks and dinner and review that day's photos and sleep.
Next day same routine but due to variety of birds and every day new surprises we never felt board.
You can do some sightseeing from Yuksom there is a Monastery and a Kathak Lake and some other places also.
A day or two will be a great holiday option at Yuksom. Few hotels and homestay are there at Yuksom. Best time to visit is October to December and March to May.
