Icche Gaon or Echey Gaon is a small village in the Kalimpong district of the state of West Bengal, India. Icche Gaon, situated at 5800 ft above mean sea level, has view of Mount Kangchenjunga and nearby peaks. Icche Gaon is located 89 km from New Jalpaiguri.
Day 1, We stayed in the famous Khawas Homestay, who is kind of the builder of this village.
Weather was comfortable. Rooms were clean. Ample amount of water was available for use. We reached around 5:30PM on Saturday. Homestay included evening snacks, dinner, morning tea, breakfast. We stayed only for 1 night and were very happy with the services.
The area offers views of the Mt. Kangchenjunga and its is allied peaks. An attraction for tourists visiting Sillery Gaon is Sangchen Dorjee Monastery, which was built during the Bhutanese rule in Pedong
We rented a car from here and moved to Tinchuley.
We stayed 2 nights here. The place is in nature’s lap. The guest house is wonderful. Rooms are pretty large. Also huge amounts of rooms are available. The service was very professional. Foods were very tasty with a classic start of ghee and rice.
We did a sneak peak near the homestay and found a viewpoint with an open view.
Day 4, we started for Darjeeling
Darjeeling is a town in India's West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. Once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” completed in 1881. It's famed for the distinctive black tea grown on plantations that dot its surrounding slopes. Its backdrop is Mt. Kanchenjunga, among the world’s highest peaks.
