A Bengali like me will definitely visit Shantiniketan at least once in their lifetime. For everyone, who is keen to have a tour to Kolkata should plan for a 2 day trip to this place which is famous for it's rich culture, architecture, literature, arts and many more. The place is known because of the hard and true dedication of Rabindranath Tagore towards Viswabharati, the only Central University of West Bengal till now. It is in Bolpur, West Bengal so you can avail train from Howrah or Sealdah Railway Stations from Kolkata or take a car straight to this place. Many foreigners come, stay and study literature, music, dance from different countries in the university. The places of attractions are : Viswabharati University, Kopai river, konkalitala Temple,Art Museums, Chhatimtala (where Rabindranath Tagore used to sit and write his master pieces), Khoai Haat (A market of selling and buying birbhum handicrafts) etc. During Holi Shantiniketan arranges a supreme festival called "Dol Utsav" and in winter the famous "Poush Mela" , you can't miss it !!
