My Journey to Darjeeling (Short Trip)

Before I begin my writing about my journey to Darjeeling. I would like to tell you that this was a short trip to Darjeeling focusing only Darjeeling.

Last time when I had travelled to North East. We visited Darjeeling but it was for a short while and we had sat at Ramada Inn and had coffee there. We didnt venture to see any other places in Darjeeling

Journey to Darjeeling.

11th October 2023: We boarded the flight to Siliguri in the morning and reached Siliguri next morning. As we came near Darjeeling I took some pictures of the Himalayas and make it memorable. Summit Hermon Hotel, It was 1 Km up the mall road of Darjeeling. We checked into the hotel and relax

12th October 2023: Next Day as I woke up early in the morning we saw the beautiful morning view of Darjeeling covered in clouds so we were unable to see the famous Kachenjunga Mountains. Then we got up and we walked towards the mall road I took some pictures of the Road to keep it my collection then we walked 1 km to the mall road taking as much as picture as possible. Then we ventured all parts of the mall road including the rear end where there were schools, colleges and Churches. After our round of walk we sat down on the bench to enjoy the beauty of Darjeeling and feel the cold breeze. Then we walked back to our hotel which was strenuous as we had to climb the steep slope to our hotel.

13th October 2023: Next day as we woke up early morning we saw the Kanchenjunga peaks from our hotel window and we were so excited that we cannot describe it. Then we went for some sightseeing in and around Darjeeling. Our first stop was the famous Batasia Loop where the famous toy train stops. When we entered Batasia loop, we saw shop near the train tracks selling different types of woollen garments. As we were there the toy train passed by us and we were only inches away from the train track. After our shopping at Batasia Loop, we went to see Choling Monestary. We had a little coffee at a nearby outlet near the monastary. We had coffee at the Cafe located in the monastery. The Monastery was situated on top of the hill. I climbed the stairs to see the monastery and take pictures its surroundings beauty. Then I took some pictures of Darjeeling from the monastery to see its view.

Next we visited Zoological Park. It was a huge park at different levels in the mountain with different variety of animals. Next our final destination for the day was Rangit Tea Estate where Tea plantation was spread out in the whole mountain slope. There were shop selling tea and we tasted some of them. I enjoyed the taste of tea and felt happy to be in Darjeeling.

14th October 2023: Next day we woke up early in the morning before sunrise and travelled to Tiger Hill around 4 in the morning. The roads were deserted. It was dark and scary. After Traversing the winding road we reached the Tiger Hill we waited as the sun breaks its morning glory and gives up a glance of the Himalayas up close. We were surprised to see huge crowd of people waiting for the sunrise and expecting to see the Kanchenjunga. We waited for the sun to come out with its morning glory and crown kanchenjunga with its golden view but to our dissappointment clouds kept covering the Kanchenjunga and the sun could only peep through the clouds. We could get a full view of morning sunrise and that was disappointing.

15th October 2023: We went down the mall road for some snacks and coffee at a famous Keventers Restaurant. After our breakfast we ventured into the market area and exploring places around the mall road.

16th October 2023: We had nothing much to do on this day and we felt that we stayed here longer than expected so we went to watch a movie in our leisure time.

17th October 2023: We checkout of the Summit Hermon Hotel and then we were on our way back to Siliguri. On the way we webt down by Pankhabaadi road. It was a beautiful road winding through the tea gardens of Makaibaari which is famous for its good quality of tea. we took some amazing pictures of tea plantation all around. Then we proceeded our journey back to Siliguri. Then we caught our flight from Siliguri then back to Kolkata.
