Lamahatta Eco Park is a mesmerising place to visit and spend some quiet time in the shadow of giant pine forest. if you’re enough lucky and the sky is clear, on opposite side you will be able to watch the mighty mountain range of Kanchenjunga with white shimmery ice on the top. Distance between Lamahatta to Darjeeling by Road is 20 Kms. I never really imagined that a man made creation could be so beautiful! I visited this place in the month of March. Though, winter is the best time to visit this place. The entry fee to the park is INR 15. The travel cost varies depending on the time of your visit and type of car you choose. I paid INR 2200 for i20 which I hired for an entire day. The trip was from Ghoom - Lamahatta - Lovers Point - rafting point at Teesta river - Ghoom.
It's best to visit this place early in the morning since it's less crowded. You can also hear birds chirping and sunlight tearing through the gigantic forest in this time of the day.
Here are some tips based on my experience,
1. Carry some water since the hike is tiring for some people and in cold weather the throat will dry out sooner.
2. Carry some band aids (not necessary but always good to have some by your side)
3. Wear good shoes. The ones that has good grip (not the flat sole/gym shoes)
