Eta shohor kolkata!!!

There are so many things you would want to experience in kolkata. Be it food, places, people or culture. However, as a traveller you need to do research a little bit so that you don't burn a hole in your pocket.

The reason I said that is because local vendors have a thing to recognise newbie's & will try thier best to get the maximum out of your pocket.
This includes :
1) Going to religious places
If you are not aware, you will end up spending unnecessary for the namesake pujas & other stuff.
P.S. please do not fall for the pandits recommended pujas at Kalighat. (Not Dakshineswar kalibari, but Kalighat which is located in central kolkata)

2) Prefer local transportation or OLA. Try to avoid local taxis "the oh-so yellow taxis" as they have high prices than the usual charges.

3) Avoid shopping at any local market for souvenirs (will give you the details below for recommended areas)

Okay, now that you are well aware of what to avoid, let's see what's not to miss.

1) For history lover's

> Victoria memorial
> Indian museum
> Jora shonkho (Rabindra nath's life)
> Rani rashmoni Badi
> Dakshineswar Kali Badi

There's lot more but I have named the ones which are a must visit.

2) For shopping freaks

> Bodo bazaar (chandni chowk of kolkata)
Literally dirt cheap prices for sarees, party wear lehenga, leather stuff & lot more)
> Gariahat market
This is another place to buy stuff at a reasonable price but please do not enter the showrooms but look for the stalls on the sides of the road
> College Street for book lover's

3) For someone who enjoys science & someone who wants to experience something new, please do visit "Science City" as it will be an interesting visit.
There are 3D shows that they run along with few others which you will surely enjoy.

4) Those who live to eat, not just eat to live
Honestly, if you truly wanna feel the local taste, try hopping to different places & grab the below :
> Egg roll
> Kolkata chowmein
> Jhaalmuri
> Ghugni
> Porotta & torkari for breakfast
> Fuchka
> Bharer Cha

& For some nice dining, you can go to good restaurants.
(P.S. I personally love "Saptapadi" & "Bhojohori Manna" but you can surely explore other options)

5) Through the lens
As they say, wherever you place a camera in kolkata, you get a vision. So take that fav camera & capture the beauty spattering around.

6) Since it's on the coastal region, you must explore the ghats & known bridges. To name a few, Howrah bridge, Rabindra Setu, Princep Ghat & many more.
(P.S. You can do boating at Princep Ghat & then relish on the street food right around the corner. It's a long lane adjacent to the Ghat which is filled with lively crowd as the sun goes down)

Try to book an Airbnb to have that homely & localite feel. Try to eat at the local eateries for breakfast & evening snacks. Even though it was my first time in kolkata, I left a piece of my heart there & wish to go again as it's never too much in kolkata. I have added pictures in my account but adding a few more here. I'm not too much of a photographer but still managed to get some.

Let's go to kolkata... Naah, it's just a city.
Helllooo ???
It's an emotion on the run & experience not to miss.

Go people!!!
