Oslo definitely has many nice hiking points and i love hiking.
This time Mørkgonga and Gyrihaugen
Location - Nordmarka , Oslo (Norway)
Distance- 8 km (in loop ), short hiking
Difficulty- medium but very steep (last 500 meters are straight up to Mørkgonga and that is the best part of hike.
Transport- more feasible way will be car.
By public transport first take bus no.200 from Oslo bussterminal to Sundvollen then take 211 to elvikbråten.
(Imp- bus no. 211 Runs only on weekdays so plan accordingly , or if you want add some extra kilometres till Mørkgonga then start your hike from Sundvollen as we did)
Hike starts from Mårkgonga parking area but we started our hike from Sundvollen because we planned to do it on weekends. It’s approx 7km from sundvollen to Mørkgonga parking Area.I would say it was a nice warmup😂 for hike. 1.5km from starting point you will find a marking where you can choose between 2 ways. I would suggest go to left, Mørkgonga is 500 meter away ,Its just the trail is more steeper, rocky , little slippry but shorter than other. you will find chain on gorge to climb up. Now you reached at Mørkgonga , you can return Back from the way you came or you can go to Gyrihaugen and come back from around. From Mørgonga to Gyrihaugen you will find a junction , one goes to Gyrihaugen and other can take you back to parking. From Gyrihaugen to parking trail , you will find 2 Nice lake “Migartjern” and “Skardtjern” where you can stop by. We stopped by Skardtjern and had tea ☕️.
Remember -
1-if you are hiking on weekends and depending on public transport , your hike is going to be almost 22-24 km in total.
2- wear hiking shoes and avoid hike in rain.
