Hidden Hill station of West Bengal:Kalimpong

West Bengal 's famous city is Kolkata, we all know about this metro city. But only few of us know about hill stations of West Bengal.
Although Darjiling which is a famous hill station of India as well as West Bengal yet West Bengal has a other hidden Hill station near darjiling that is Kalimpong.
Kalimpong is not so popular as that of Darjiling but kalimpong is a beautiful , calm hill station of West Bengal.

How to reach kalimpong?

In 1706 kalimpong was considered part of Bhutan. At that time Kalimpong was a small village of Dalimkot which was ruled by Bhutan kingdom. Only 2 or 3 families with 8-9 cows were citizens of that small kalimpong.
Now kalimpong is best quaint place for retired people, better school town of West Bengal.
Kalimpong is famous for its tea gardens, beautiful parks, popular as Budhiests city, famous for its monesteries etc.
Kalimpong ' s elevation is 1250 meters.
Kalimpong is located on Bank of Teesta famous river of North East site.
Teesta river gives you beautiful views. Green water of Teesta looks very beautiful. There are many points like lover's point, sunset point worth watching for view of teesta river.
Kalimpong is a city of gardens.
We visited kalimpong in December 2019. We stayed in silk Route Retreat in Pedong near kalimpong.

There are many places in kalimpong or near kalimpong.
These are:

1,2 Deolo hill and park : star attraction of kalimpong is deolo hill and deolo park. Beautiful maintained park with pathways lead to hill. This park situated on hill. You enjoy nature while small track in park. When you reach top there is sign board 'I love Kalimpong'.

3. Zong Dhog Parli Fo Brang Monastery: Beautiful Budhiest monestary on the road in Kalimpong

4. Shri Hanuman tok : Near Zong Dhog Parli Fo Brang Monastery there was beautiful park. After upstairs you will reach Hanuman temple. Near temple there was a tall Hanuman statue. You can see beautiful sunset from Hanuman tok.

5. Kalimpong science center: like science City there was small but valuable science center for people. Kids enjoy a lot. There are small dinosaurs which attract kids.

6. 7th mile view point : this point has beautiful scenertic view. Near about 3 kilometres from Kalimpong this view point give beautiful view of teesta river.

7. Lovers point : while going from gangtok to kalimpong there is a halt 20 kilometres before kalimpong named lovers point. This point is like a picnic spot, you can enjoy snacks while capturing view of teesta river .

8. Lamahatta botanical eco park : Around 31 kilometres from Kalimpong towards gangtok there is a small village lamahatta. In this village there is magnificent botanical eco park which has small track to a pond of length 1 kilometres. You can walk and see the beauty of park while going upwards to pond. This is collection of many flowers, oak trees, tree house, ducks, pond , greenery etc.

9. Pine view Nursury:  As name suggests this nursury is a source of pine.

10. Dr Graham's Home : This is a educational site somewhat like a Church . Beautiful calm place. 

How to reach kalimpong :

Kalimpong is a hill station near Darjiling. It is about 52 kilometres away from darjiling. Kalimpong is about 73 kilometres away from gangtok.
By road you can reach kalimpong from Gangtok, Darjiling, mirik through bus , shared taxi, private taxi.
By train : Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri which is approximately 70 kilometres from Kalimpong.
By air : Nearest airport is Bagdogra International Airport which is 78 kilometres away from Kalimpong.
