Glenary's Cafe & Bakery, Darjeeling

Glenary's Bakery & Cafe is also known as the Glenary's Cake Shop. It is located on the ground floor of a white colonial building that displays its name in front. This is a famous landmark of Darjeeling. It is existing in this place since the British colonial days and run by the Edwards family. Glenary's is located on Nehru Road and very near to the mall. The bakery and the cafe are located on the ground floor.

Glenary's Restaurant is located upstairs, which you can enter through a stairway inside the cafe or from outside the building. And in the basement is the Buzz Bar which is a trendy pub. All three units belong to the Edwards family and the entire building is very well known in Darjeeling as The Glenary's.

Glenary's Bakery & Cafe is well known for its breakfast. During breakfast, it serves like burgers, sandwiches, rolls, pizzas, pies, cakes, pastries, and many other items including fresh bread and loaves. And then end your breakfast with some great Darjeeling tea or coffee.

You will see many different types of snacks like pastries, cakes including fruit cakes, muffins, etc. You will also get items like Paneer Manchurian, Chicken chili, sausage rolls, etc. Then there are jam/lemon/chocolate tarts, chocolate brownies, loaves, burgers & buns, and different types of cakes and pastries. It has remained as the best bakery in Darjeeling district. They also have an outlet at the lower town of Darjeeling at Chowk Bazaar. Another branch is at Bagdogra (near the airport).

Many restaurants and even hotels in Darjeeling buy the bread, cheese, etc from Glenary's and serve to their customers, such has been its reputation.

As you cross over the pastry counter, there is a pleasant seating area behind with tables and chairs placed out. From here you can get fabulous views of the mountains and the valley, while you have your snacks or breakfast. Presently there is free wifi available at Glenary's.
