The Pookode Lake is one of the most prominent tourist places in Wayanad. It's a serene lake surrounded by Lush green hills. The entry fee to the Lake area is INR 40 per person and can either be paid via cash, credit card, UPI, etc., or booked online.
Once inside the lake area, you can see the amazing development made in and around the lake. On one end, there is a children's play area. These include various types of slides, swings, etc. A jogging track has been laid down around the entire stretch of the lake. You can also see people walking around the lake, taking photos, and viewing the natural beauty. For boating lovers, there are various types of boats here. Ranging from 2 seater ones to 6 seater ones. The charges for the boating begin with INR 300 for the two-seater for around 20 mins. But the time is sufficient to take your boat to the other side of the lake and return too.
A unique part about the lake is that it is filled entirely with vegetation inside. There are some sorts of plants growing inside the entire water. Upon touching it, you can see that the plants are very soft. It is one of the rarest things to see water vegetation growing naturally. At one end, you also have a big snacks counter that serves everything from noodles to chat to even traditional South Indian items. They also have a variety of flavors of ice cream, and the taste is delicious.
However, if you visit this place in the summer, especially in April or May, please wear sun protection, such as glares, caps, etc. It tends to get exceptionally hot, and with the water body around, it is humid too. But overall, the lake and the surrounding area are beautiful. If you are on a tour of Wayanad, this place should be at the top of your list.
