As the name itself defines Nymphaea Lotus Pond's scenic beauty, it's an attractive place included in the list of Kondakarla Bird Sanctuary, locally known as Kondakarla Lake, the home of many migratory birds during summer.
The lake being a spring has no shortage of water in all seasons. People also call it 'Lotus Pond'.
In the early hours around 5, we, a group of 4 friends made a visit to the sanctuary which is located 50km away from the city of destiny, Visakhapatnam.
The best part of the place is it is harmless for the exclusive creation of God. The moment we reached the destination, we sailed on the boat to witness the beauty of the sunrise to the middle of the lake.
The boat man ensured our safety, and assured to row to a perfect spot where we could we enjoy the view of sunrise.
As a complimentary, we were permitted to pick a few water lilies from the pond, which garnished our visit.
The administration of the maintenance of the lake and it's resources is not in the hands of government agents locally.
The water body is controlled by the locals as they were found free for fishing, feeding and cleaning the lake from ages.
The amazing part of the place was that they do not use mechanised boats since they might spoil the flowers or frighten away the birds. Hence, they use boats made of palm tree-trunks, connected to each other with 2 cots fixed on both the sides to hold the boats together.

They charge around INR 150 per a trip of 20-30 mins.
It is quite a pleasant and soothing place and the cooler months between November to February is a perfect time to visit. The routing to the lake would be through concrete jungle to some rural area which is not polluted yet.
