How to reach- Shared Auto and Buses Available frequently from Virar Railway Station East side. Ask to drop at Viva Institute Naka. From there its hardly 200 Meter.
When to go- Mansoon
Safe for Family- I won't recommend family as I found people were drinking and smoking in groups. Few families and couples were there but its really not safe when irresponsible people like them are around.
You can swim in the dam but be careful as few incidences of drowning has happened last year. But if you know swimming and a careful person, then its safe.
If local authority take the responsibility then it can be the best spot for picnic. Its really neat and clean place but I found so many beer and wine bottles along with plastic garbage left by these drunkards.
Overall it is good place. I did meditation, lost in the beauty of nature. It was well spent afternoon.
