Magical Vietnam

Tripoto
8th Mar 2019

So I have been thinking about writing about my Vietnam Trip that I did in March’19 but never really got through it. Recently, one of my friends was planning a similar trip and she looked extremely confused about where to start the trip, what all places to see and where to come back from. It is then that I finally decided to pen down my experience and share my itinerary to help people plan a better trip

Must Dos: try local beers. There are some amazing local beers wherever you go in Vietnam and they are extremely cheap and truly amazing. Keep Google Translator handy, most people esp cab drivers are comfortable using the translator so there would not be much communication problems.

Day 1

8th Mar: So we started by landing at Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. There were no direct flights from Delhi at the time so we took a connecting flight and reached Hanoi by afternoon. We booked our hotel at the Old Quarter (Hanoi Old Quarter Hotel), which was one of the most popular tourist destinations in terms of exploring the local food and streets.

We walked around the old quarter exploring some nice places to eat. However, when we came back at night, it was a different place altogether. There were no cars allowed and you could just walk around listening to live music on the streets, meeting new people and drinking their local beer.

9th Mar: Next day, we headed to a one-night cruise at the Halong Bay. The drive was approximately 3 hours we some amazing views. We stayed at the Lapinta Cruise, which is one of the luxury cruises with spacious rooms and well-built interiors. Authentic Vietnamese food was served on board along with various activities. We visited the Dark and Bright Cave at Hai Phong, went kayaking, attended a Vietnamese cooking class and a Sunset party at the deck

10th Mar: We headed straight to Cat Bi airport for our flight to Da Nang. We decided to stay at Hoi An (city of lamps) which is about an hour or two drive from Da Nang. It is one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam to be. Again, we booked a hotel right at the centre of the city (Green Heaven Hoi An Resort and Spa). It is a magical site to see at the night – a river with streets on either side, lit up with unlimited lamps and small restaurants serving all types of cuisines. Again, do keep trying the local beers all way through in Vietnam. You would find a different local beer everywhere you travel.

11th Mar: Bana Hills – a must visit whenever you go to Vietnam. This place is a hill station and resort located in the Trường Sơn Mountains west of the city of Da Nang. A cable car ride, the longest non-stop single track cable car, will take you to this amazing place, steering through the clouds. Explore the French village, play games in the arcade, take the roller coasters, visit the Golden Hand bridge and the Wax Museum

Day 5

12th Mar: we visited the Marble mountains, a cluster of five marble and limestone hills with an amazing view from the top. Post that we headed straight to the airport and headed to our next destination – Phu Quoc. There is a connecting flight from Ho Chi Minh city and we recommend staying at Ho Chi Minh city for about two days and then heading to Phu Quoc and back to Delhi. That would really save your time. We chose this destination to relax by the beach and enjoy some silent time.

We booked a beachfront bungalow at the Eden resort. We absolutely loved the resort and the luxurious bungalow that opened right at the beach. You can relax and get a massage (s) done at this destination.

Day 6

13th Mar: we booked a tour to South Phu Quoc. The main attraction was Phu Quoc prison – it is a huge place where they have recreated images and statues of what all went in there at the time of the war. Although, it is a must visit but can be slightly disturbing to see. We also visited the wine factory, pearl farms and did a lot of pearl shopping too :) In the evening, we went to a nearby beach and enjoyed some delicious food.

Day 7

14th Mar: We kept this day to visit the famous Sao beach, go for a mud bath and a relaxing massage. Sao beach is beautiful with clean blue waters. We skipped the mud bath as did not find it too fancy but went for a full body massage instead. Later in the evening we went to the the Blue Monkey bar situated right at the beach with amazing cocktails and food.

Day 8

15th Mar: we headed to Ho Chi Minh City, which was our last stop before we headed back to Delhi the next day. Due to some family emergency, we had to come back to Delhi the same day. However, we had thought of booking a city tour and then exploring the nightlife on foot. We booked a hotel at District 1, which is a hub for famous restaurants and bars.
