This Blog can help plan a perfect itinerary for Vietnam under 40k.
The below itinerary starts from Saigon and ends in Hanoi.
Day 10/11: Explore Hanoi your final destination. Take the feel of the city around the lake in the night and end your trip taking flight on the 12th day. :)
One of the must go and most instagrammed place is Train street!!
Day 4/5: Hoian is one of the beautiful Ancient towns in Vietnam. You can take a flight from Ho chi minh to Danang to reach here or can also take a bus.
Spend 2 days(4 and 5) in Hoian and then take a flight(approx 2k) or bus to Danang/Ninh Binh your next destination.
I also went to Ba na hills while I was in Hoian, but I do not recommend the same in a budget trip and I have reviewed The Golden Bridge in another blog.
Day8/9: You can stay in any island and take a boat ride to the ha long bay and next day cover Sapa for a trek. We booked a Rosa boutique cruise (5 start)with the night stay in Halong Bay and we were upgraded to the Donna cruise(7 star). After spending amazing time in the cruise, head to spend a night on the Catba island(day 9)
Day 6/7 : Ninh Binh is another beautiful city, where you can enjoy the historic beauty in the day time visiting the :
-Mua caves : trek to hill and get to see a beautiful sunset
-take a ride in the boat to the limestone caves and enjoy the beauty
-night life is amazing as well.
Day 1/2/3 : My first 3 days were in Ho chi minh City, where I did not capture many pictures and mostly took the feel of the lifestyle around and did not do touristic things, and you choose to do activities around. I did go to a museum based on the history of the Vietnam war and the picture is from the museum. This lady is about to be shot :(
After spending Day 6 and 7 in ninh binh, its time to head to Ha long Bay.
Tips : Take airbnbs and hostels for the stay. Search Thoroughly for your flights and get the best prices. Research well on commute in order to save on taxes/cabs and explore public transport.
