The main ghat in Varanasi on the Ganga River. It is located close to Vishwanath temple and is probably the most spectacular ghat. Two Hindu legends are associated with it: According to one, Lord Brahma created it to welcome Lord Shiva. According to another legend,

Lord Brahma sacrificed ten horses during Dasa-Ashwamedhi Yajna performed here.

Was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the year 1748.

Ganga Aarti is held daily at dusk. Several perform this ritual by carrying Deepam and moving it up and down in a rhythmic tune of bhajans.[

The Ganga Aarti starts soon after sunset and lasts for about 45 minutes. In summer the Aarti begins at about 7pm due to late sunsets and in winter it starts at around 6pm. Hundreds of people gather at the ghat every evening to watch the event.

There are paid boats from where you can enjoy the beautiful Ganga Aarti.

The original Kashi Vishwanath temple was destroyed (and reconstructed) several times; in 1194 by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, between 1447-1458 by Hussain Shaah Shariq and then in 1669 CE by Aurangzeb. In 1930s, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya planned to replicate Shri kashi Vishwanath temple in the campus of BHU. The Birla family undertook the construction and foundation was laid in March 1931.

The temple is one of the tallest in India. Total height of the temple is 77 meters (253 feet). Temple's design was inspired by Shri Kashi Vishwanath and is made mostly of marbles.

Assi Ghat is the southernmost ghat in Varanasi. To most visitors to Varanasi, it is known for being a place where long-term foreign students, researchers, and tourists live. There are a lot of activities for tourists to engage in at the ghat. Visitors can go for boat rides, go up in a hot-air balloon for an aerial view of Assi ghat and enjoy the camel ride opposite to Assi Ghat. You can take a evening walk from Assi Ghat to Dashashwamed Ghat. I promise you will definitely love the walk .

The temple was established by famous Hindu preacher and poet saint Sri Goswami Tulsidas in the early 16th century. It is believed that the temple has been built on the very spot where Tulsidas had a vision of Hanuman.

The temple still continues to be attended by thousands of Rama and Hanuman devotees who chant Hanuman Chalisa and Sundarkand(also provided in the form of a booklet in the temple for free). The best part is the Sundarkand with the energy. There is a tight security and no electronics like mobile camera etc are allowed inside the temple. Lockers are there to keep the mobiles safely.
