Ramnagar Fort is located near the bank of Ganga river in Varanasi city of UP. The main thing about this is here biggest and most unique Ram-Lila of India is celebrated every year during the festival of Dusshera. The duration of Ram Lila is 30 days, not 9 or 10 days like in other cities. Not only this even Ram Lila of Ramnagar has got a tag of UNESCO.
HOW TO REACH :
There are two nearest railway stations one is Din Dyal Upadhaya/DDU ( Mughal sari ) and the second one is VARANASI junction /BSB. You can take an auto in share or book a cab. In share, the auto will charge Rs 30 per person. Also, you can take an auto from BHU Lanka (Rs10 per person).
TIMINGS :
It remains open throughout the week (Mon-Sun) from 10 AM to 5 PM. Best time to visit Varanasi is winters. And the best time to visit here is during Dusshera festival. It will take max 1-1.5 hours to wander the fort. Entry fee is Rs50 per person. Actually, the entry fee is for the museum otherwise it is free.
WHAT TO DO :
Actually, the fort museum is very dirty and not properly maintained. So it is not worth a visit unless you are for many days in Varanasi. But must a visit if you are in Dusshera month. Best you can do is sit on the opposite side of the fort and enjoy the view of the Ganga river and bridge.
