Banaras/ Varanasi/ Baranasi/ kashi lots of names of this one of the most oldest living City in the world. The city of Shiva, named as here Kashi Vishwanath has its own fragrance of its narrow lanes, different street foods (yes coming to my topic haha), its own people nd their traditions nd people's speech with mouthfull of Banarasi Pan(mmm ka bhaai saab mmm), lots of ghats, open cremation ghats, Benarasi Sarees nd ofcourse lots of bulls. oHhh sorry i forgot to mention the great Ganga AARTI
Day 1: Take any train from Sealdah, Howrah or Kolkata heading towards Mughal Sarai or Varanasi. Due to Rush time we took train for Mughal Sarai from kolkta
Day2: Reached Mughal Sarai at around 8 AM, then we decided to take auto for varanasi which took approx 45 mins costing 300/-. As the days was 2days prior to Shiv Ratri, the city was over crowded thats why we have faced some trouble to find hotels, though we somehow managed to find a moderate hotel with ac room at 1500/- for 3 people near Harish Chandra Ghat from where the main temple or Rajendra Prasad Ghat was 15 mins via narrow lanes. After little bit refreshment we started our lane hoping. There was a south indian food corner near the main gate of Vishwanath Temple, where Dahi Bada was just not only awesome but also mmmuuuaaahhh typ.. hahah..it costs 18/- per piece. worth having. We went for puja in the Vishwanath temple as it was our family order to offer puja there. Though we were more interested in the Prasad:P haha. Then we went for ghat hoping started from Asshi Ghat ended at Rajendra Prasad ghat where the Sandhya Ganga Aarti occurs. I escaped visiting Harish Chandra Ghat nd Manikarnika ghat but hav seen during boat riding as i cant tolerate the scene from so close!! After watching the awesome aarti we backed to the hotel after having dinner on road side dhaba.. One thing must remember in this city, dont ever expect non-vej meal :( We shopped little bit the great Pan-Masala from the famous shop "Anil er Jarda"
Day 3 : This is the first time I found myself very unlucky as it was heavily raining outside,so we missed the sunrise, for this reason I hav to visit again :) After 8 AM we again started street hoping nd took the boat ride on the Ganges though the condition of the open cremation nd the condition of the water made me feel puke :( so bad!! Around 12PM we again returned to hotel as we had our train at 7:40 PM from Mughal Sarai. Leaving the hotel we took auto(200/-) for Ramnagar Fort, fort of Varanasi King..though the condition is poor but still the architecture nd the collections is mind blowing. Moreover the way from Lanka to Ramnagar crossing the Ganga over the great "Floating Bridge" was awestruck.
whats more.. :( trip ends with a perfect rainbow after little bit rain :)
