My family had been wanting to explore least known places of uttrakhand . As i am a Garhwali we had been too many places before and this time decided to go to ansuya devi trek which is in Mandal,Chamoli district , 30 km from Gopeshwar. The trek had an accessible route through scenic dense forest. We were trekking to atrimuni cave starting from mandal . The route was for another famous trek known as Rudranth trek(hope to go there this june) and our destination was a checkpoint on that trek. It was easy at first as there was no acclivity, but as we progressed through the trek we found ourselves climbing a mountain . It was a moderate 4 hours trek ,out of which 3 hour were exhausting.we made it to a village from were a trail was heading towards the fall. We followed the trail to find ourselves facing the majestic fall. The tricky thing was to go behind the fall .Yes,behind the fall because that's were the muni had his cave.Tricky because you literally have to crawl between the rock to make it to the cave( see the picture below) . We had spent a little time there as we were in a rainforest and it was already dark because of the clouds.we decided to hurry back to mandal .It took us 2 hours to get back to our vehicle. This was a short yet scenic and least explored places of uttrakhand .Would recommend this to everyone,if your planning to go to uttarkashi do check this place out.
