It was high time for an official trip. As per the final decision wherein everyone agreed we packed our bags to the Yoga Capital of the world, Rishikesh and the Gateway to the Lord, Haridwar city. We were seven of us out of which two decided to drive the car back and forth and so we rented a Scorpio from Zoomcar for our trip.
Early morning on 10th May I and my friend picked our car from Greater Kailash, South Delhi and picked up the rest of our five co-travellers. We had our breakfast at McDonald’s on the highway. Along the way we played the most hideous songs to irritate each other and never missed a chance to crack jokes on each other. It was a wonderful drive that made us reach Rishikesh at around 3pm. We reached our camp site where we were given three tents to share among us. We already did a reservation for camping which included breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, dinner, and tents and rafting for 2 days 1 night. We freshened up and had our lunch there after which we got ready for the most awaited adventure of the trip, river rafting. The river rafting that we had in our package was of 16km route that started from Shivpuri. Before we got on our raft the guide gave us the major instructions that needed to be followed while rafting. We paid an extra amount of 1000 bucks to our guide to get a full video shoot of our rafting experience. We started our rafting by saying in chorus “Jai Ganga Maiya Ki”, already my excitement level was at its peak by that time. The guide made us jump in the water 4-5 times, the water which was chilling but it never made us stop to dive in it. We crossed all the waves which had different names; I am not able to recall all of them though. We stopped at the spot where we ate all time favourite Maggie, cold drinks and smoked. We again started with our rafting and completed our stretch at approximately 3.5 hours. River rafting is a must try for people who looks forward for adventurous sports. After rafting we went back to our camp in an open jeep, dried ourselves and it was time to relax. There was bonfire, evening snacks, and tea by the river side, what can be more relaxing. We had our drinks and then dinner was served. After dinner we played cards for 3-4 rounds and our jokes started wherein no one was able to get a good sleep.
Next day, after breakfast we started our journey to our next destination, Tehri. We headed to Devprayag where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga. The view of this meet is very mesmerizing. After that we reached Tehri Dam, the highest dam in India and one of the highest in the world. After spending some time there we had our lunch and headed towards Haridwar. We reached Haridwar at around 9pm where we booked a hotel room for all of us. We freshened up and came out of our hotel room in search of dinner. After our South Indian dinner we had kadhai doodh full of malayi. We went for a good sleep after we talked for a while in our room.
Next morning we woke up early and walked to have a dip in water of the Ganges in a famous ghat of Haridwar, Har ki Pauri. After spending a quality time of around one hour there we left for breakfast. Followed by we walked to our hotel room to check out and start our return journey. We had our lunch in Subway on the highway and reached Greater Kailash to return the car by 3:30pm. After that we reached my place to freshen up and left for office half dead to work.
It was only seven of us for the trip. However, I believe to have a memorable trip the quantity doesn’t matter but quality and we had a wonderful trip of 3 days and 2 nights.
