How to Reach Nainital.
People who visit Nainital generally book trains to Kathgodam Railway station. This railway station, situated 34 km away from Nainital is the closest railway station and the easiest way to reach Nainital. People visiting from other places can reach Delhi first and take another train from Delhi to Kathgodam. If you wish to book a flight, it has to be till the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Delhi followed by a flight to Kathgodam. From the Kathgodam railway station, one can book a cab to Nainital. There are private cabs as well as share jeeps available from the station.
Nainital Devi Temple
The Nainital Devi Temple is situated in the Mallital Area, the very edge of the lake. With its optimum temperature throughout the year, the rich history, numerous temples and picturesque landscape, Nainital attracts thousands of tourists every month, most of whom visit the place for the temples. Nainital Devi Temple or the Naina Devi Temple is a Shakti Peeth dedicated to Naina Devi, represented by her eyes. The temple opens at 6 am and closes at 10 pm. There are stalls around the temple where devotees can buy puja items as well.
Nainital Mango Lake View Point.
The Nainital lake has several views and each of them are equally stunning. Millions of tourists flock to Nainital every year yet only a few are aware of the Mango View Point. Interestingly the place has been named so because of the view of the lake which resembles the shape of a mango from that particular place. Although there is nothing too extraordinary here, the view of the place is mesmerising. If you wish to spend a few days in close proximity with nature, then this is your place to be.
The Nainital Mosque.
Standing in all its glory in white and a tiny tinge of black is the Jama Masjid of Nainital. Apart from being one of the most beautiful structures of religious significance in Nainital, it has a historical significance too. The mosque dates back to the British era and it is said that it was the British who built the mosque for their Muslim soldiers. The structure is a little different from other Islamic structures and bears a mark of the British architecture. Carved on the walls of the mosque is a mihrab indicating the direction of Mecca.
Nainital Boating In the heart of Nainital, lies an experience like no other. The Nainital lake spans 2 km in perimeter. Tourists can hire boats to spend some time on the lake in Nainital. Located about 4 minutes away from the bus stand, boating on the lake starts at 6 am in the morning and closes at around 6 pm in the evening. Normal boats will cost you around INR 120 every hour whereas the decorated and fancy ones are available for INR 150 for a single round trip around the lake.
