For me, happiness is an open road, the endless curves in the arms of those fascinating hills and my best friend. :)

The much commercialized yet beautiful Nainital is still the famous tourist destination. With a plan to cover Nainital and then heading towards Kausani, also known as the ‘Switzerland of India’, we two started in the evening around 4 PM taking train Sampark Kranti from New Delhi to Kathgodam which costs around Rs 830 for two one way. The journey is of around 6 hours and as we arrived at 11:30 pm at night so we stayed in Kathogodam in a Railway’s cottage after taking special permission from the railways official (my bro :P).

Day 1

We planned to travel to Nainital by a car (bolero) and it took us around an hour to reach the city of lakes. We paid nothing for the car as it was my bro’s car.

Though being off season, Nainital was still overcrowded with tourists making it difficult to even walk on road. We quickly checked into the beautiful wooden hill cottage with a perfect scenic view from the room.

There was moisture in the air with slight rain. Soo many clouds all around and even on the lake.

Boating in the lake with clouds over it is so amazing. We wanted to go for cable car to get the snow view but due to heavy crowd the bookings were done for the day.

Anyway, we roamed around the mall road discovering places to eat. There was a beautiful church on the mall road that we visited.

After getting bit tired, we came back to the cottage to take some rest and then planned to have dinner at the Boat House Club famous for being made by Britishers and still being the same. Well, only members are allowed in the club so need to take permission before hand if you wish to go there. The food was normal, nothing fancy. The only thing I loved is having dinner in the dim lights by the side of the lake. You can take complete round by the sides of the lake after dinner, enjoying the weather and the beauty. The moment we reached back hotel it started raining heavily at night.

The next day, we started the journey towards Kausani which is a small yet serene and peaceful village. It's best to visit if you want to enjoy the beauty of nature away from the crowd.

You can hear the fresh breeze touching your ears and the most important, the view of the Himalayan peaks from the hotel itself. Unfortunately, the clouds covered the peaks and we couldn’t get a clear view.

You can also enjoy some adventure sports right there. On the way to Kausani, we also discovered a place trekking up the hill to get few best shots resembling bit of Kashmir.

Next day, way back to Kathgodam, there was slight rainfall and some landslides too. This is the only thing you need to be careful about while you go there at this time of the year.

If you liked what you read consider wishlisting it as it's a kind of a place you can't afford to miss.
