Sunday, autumn time in this post covid himalayas.
After having done a gruelling 22 hour dayara Bugyal trek the previous weekend, I was in no mood to undertake another arduous trek.
With no plan in mind, I headed out to my local dhaba for a breakfast.
I told the locals there of my need and quickly came the responses
Dhanaulti! , Mussoorie!
I was not at all interested in visiting these tourist heavy places especially with the risk of covid lurking around the corner.
Then came a response I was looking forward to
- top Tibba
- isn't that the mountain top over at mussoorie?
- nope, its a local trek to a mountain top here.
- how high?
- 9000+ ft
- can it be done in a day?
- most definitely
- you, pack your bags. We're heading over to top Tibba right now !
Just before locking my room. I noticed Jackie a bit restless. Well I'll be leaving him alone here for a day.. it'll be good for him to join us on this moderate altitude trek.
Now we have a furry companion 😁
We trekked through the jungles of Suwakholi. Jackie got alert and startled at the same time
Probably a leopard lurking in the corner. Ever since I have moved here locals warned me not to venture out late in the nights.
We moved ahead cutting through the forest.
Due to COVID, the forest trails have now been unused and there was thick vegetation everywhere. This made the trek quite challenging. With no idea where the paths led, we headed out in a presumed direction... Hoping to end up someplace good.
Finally civilization was found. I now regret not getting my trekking boots up here.
Perched at a comfortable 7000+ ft above sea level this village was an untouched paradise.
Jackie was happy and felt at home here.
After a sumptuous lunch of daal bhat and a cup of warm chai we headed uphill.

After 1 hour of a steep climb. We finally summited top Tibba.
Standing at an impressive 8700 feet we could view the mountains and valleys downhill.
Tbh, covid has screwed up all the trekking routes here. It's gonna be a challenge to trek again since all the trails have been covered by grass and trees.
Enough ranting.. let's now enjoy the view up here :)
after spending a good 2 hours at the summit. We went downhill to Ariana and back home before 7 xD.
