Situated at an altitude of 1370 metres below lush orchards in the Mehragaon valley at Nainital District. Set among dense forests of oak and pine trees, Sattal is one of the few unspoiled and unpolluted freshwater biomes in India. Basically it is situated at lower Himalayan range.

Bheemtal (View from room)

We had our stay in Bheemtal; 14 KM away from this place. We were 4 people on this trip and decided on day 2 to visit Sattal. As I was the only localite had told them numerous memories and stories which had increased the excitement. After a drive of 30 minutes we reached the place and the route was beautiful between the dense forest. Roads are in very good condition.

Sunset from Sattal.

Weather was good and cold as the temperature dipped to 12 degrees. There was ample space for parking and we moved towards the lake down the road which was 15-20 steps downwards. Initially the view was a normal but as we entered on the boats and explored the inner hidden lakes the view was really magnificent. Additionally, the boatman acted as a tour guide and gave us more inputs and beautiful views.00

Tips : Boat fare - Rs 250 per round. But if you negotiate with the boatman with some tip he will show you more lakes with there names and stories happily.

The peace and relaxation you will experience in the mountains in non- comparable. It is also a shooting sight of one the movie "KHOON BHARI MAANG" starring Rekha; one scene of crocodile in the lake. You will fall in love with this place. Once you go further deep in the lake towards jungle you will feel pin drop silence and your voice will echo once you shout.
