Day 1

Kumaoun is a part of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is majorly divided into two broad categories, namely the Kumaoun and Garhwal regions.

In this article, I am giving you the names of some offbeat places near Nainital and Mukteshwar that I have already visited.

1- Bhimtal

Skip Nainital and visit Bhimtal. This is the largest lake in Nainital district. Having an inbuilt island in between the lake. Bhimtal is also famous for organizing the biggest harela fair in the region.
Bhimeshwar Mahadev Mandir is situated on the bank of the lake.
The highest peak of Bhimtal is Karkotak, which is dedicated to Nagdev. The place is situated at  7-kilometer hike from Bhimtal.
The famous lok sanskriti museum of Padamshri awardee Dr Yashodhar Mathpal is also situated here in Bhimtal to Bhawali road.

2- Nakuchiyatal

After Bhimtal, you can visit Nakuchiyatal on your next day trip; this is my favorite lake in this region. It is still raw and beautiful.
You can enjoy some water sports here.
Kayaking is a famous water sport here.
The vibe of Nakuchiyatal is really awesome. There is also a lotus taal situated near Nakuchiyatal. You can find many lodging options there. This taal is surrounded by dense forest.

3: Golu Devta Mandir (Bhawali)

Golu devta, the most prominent devta of the Kumaoun region. The another famous mandir is situated in Chittai (Almora). Bhawali Golu Devta Mandir is situated near Sainik School in Ghorakhal. Is is 3km from bhawali main market. This mandir is covered in bells. Because every devotee ties one bell there as per their wishes. This devta is also known as the Lord of Justice.

4: Tea garden shaymkhet (bhawali)

This is one of my famous places here. I love green serenity. And tea gardens are best for this. They have an entry fee for visiting the garden. But I love this place. especially for clicking photos. It changes the entire zone. After visiting lakes and mandirs, this place gives a  proper hill station vibes. Or you can say North Eastern vibes.

5: Bhalugaad waterfall (Mukteshwar)

As compared to the waterfall, I honestly love the path more. This place is situated in Mukteshwar. They have some entry charges. From entry, you have to walk at least 3–4 km to the waterfall. I really enjoyed the whole path. The path  is well maintained and covered by dense forest trails.
