The picturesque hill station of Mussoorie will soon be connected to the capital city of Dehradun by a ropeway that will cut down travel time between the two cities by 10 to 15 minutes! One of the five largest ropeways in the world, this one is estimated to be completed in the next three years.

What's in it for travellers?
The ropeway will dramatically improve tourism in the state, especially Mussoorie since at any given point it will be capable of transporting 1000 to 1200 people.
To streamline the transportation process, the starting point of the ropeway will be connected to ISBT, railway station and the airport.
It will also be instrumental in ending the parking woes that Mussoorie faces throughout the year and especially during peak season. Additionally, two parking slots near Jaypee Hotel and PWD office have been identified that will ease parking hassles for locals and travellers.

The project will connect Purkal Village in Dehradun to Library Chowk in Mussoorie. The Chief Minister said that the ropeway will be made on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode and a French company will provide technical assistance on the project.
The tentative plans of the 5.5 km ropeway route indicate that there will be 23 towers and the route will cross Kyarkuli, Bhatta Village and ITBP.
