Uttarakhand also known as Devbhoomi (Land of God’s) is famous for its Holy places. The char dham is one of most popular places to visit by Hindus followed by Haridwar and Rishikesh In Uttarakhand. Last year I got a chance to visit Kedarnath temple(one of the dham out of char dham). The place is amazing and pure with such beautiful surroundings. The last point where you can drive your vehicle is Sonprayag after which you have to take a local jeeps which is operated by government. The local taxis will take you to the base point (Gaurikund) after which the trek starts. After the tsunami that occurred in year 2013 the trek is now increased to 21kms from 19kms. One can opt for a helicopter ride which cost around₹3600 one way and gives you 2 hour for temple darshan and will take you back to the base point, the other options are pony ride, the cost of which varies from ₹2000-3000. The weather conditions are unpredictable in Kedarnath so one needs to be prepared about it.
If you are visiting Kedarnath, I would recommend to visit Triyuginarayan temple also which is around 11kms from Sonprayag. It is the same temple where lord Shiva & Parvati got married and the fire of that holy kund is still burning.
