The trek we booked was organized by Trekveda. The first day we travelled from Dehradun to the Sankri base camp by traveller. The group was of 11 people and I was the only female; prior to booking make sure who are the other people in the group and the trekking company might fool you that there are other women as faced by me and later it might become a little uncomfortable in the tents. We started at 8 A.M in In the morning and reached Sankri around 7 P.M in the evening. It took us 9 hrs since we took many stops in between. We stayed the night at G.M.V.N guest house at Sankri where the rooms were provided to us with quite good blankets. At night the trek leader briefed us about the trek, introduction and since it was new year's eve we all celebrated. The night sky looks very beautiful from Sankri.
We started from Sankri base camp and trekked to Juda ka Talab camp(2600 m altitude).
The entire trail on this was covered by forests and towards the end there was patches of snow.
The night temperature was very low around -6 to-8 C.
We woke up in the morning around 7 A.M and it stated to snow after an hr. The snow wasnt too heavy so the trek leader insisted to start around 9 AM and we reached Juda ka Talab. This day the ponchu really saved us because of the snow. The lake was frozen but shouldn't try walking on it though and a guy from our group went and he fell into the water as one cannot really understand where the sheet of ice is thick and where it's thin. From there we trekked up and this day was most difficult as it was very slippery because of the snow.
We started at 3:30 A.M for the summit(Don't forget the head light). The total distance to the summit from the base camp was around 5 km. Halfway (till thedhaba)isn't that difficult apart from the temperature (-12 to -15) and the thinning of the air as It make breathing a little difficult. After the dhaba it's really difficult because of the snow(upto knee) and the trails isn't make. Towards the end (last 45 mins) it's very dangerous as most of the trekking companies don't use any equipments like rope. It is extremely steep (just like a wall) and you have to walk on all fours and because of snow it was even more difficult and slippery. There are many steep Rocks which you need to climb. That day there was a snow storm also making the visibility even worse. The sunrise from the peak was very beautiful though.
The same day we descended to our base camp so we reached the base camp by 12 pm and because we were tired and sun was bright and warm we slept in the tents, had lunch by 3 pm and then slept for the night.
We started to walk towards Sankri from through the Hargaon village and reached by 1 pm. Once we reached and got fresh we started for Dehradun around 2:30 pm and reached by 8:30 pm.
The last day of the trek is quite difficult.
If you aren't doing the summit only then it's an easy trek!
