A break much needed from the hustle bustle of the metropolitan Delhi. Take a bus to kathgodam depending on your budget and preferenace of travel. You reach Kathgodam early morning and the first bus that leaves for Bhimtal is at six thirty. So, you can veil away sometime on the bus stand. The bus from Kathgodam is a local transport bus with broken windows and in a tattered condition. but dont worry drivers are very good. So feel safe and sleep for an hour or if you are lucky to get the window seat then admire the nature. Once you reach you will realise at seven thirty in the morning there will be no mode of transport availabe to take you to your hotel. I would suggest take hotel not in the main market but on upper side of the town...maybe near TCR (Dont bother asking what it is, just ask anyone where is TCR and you will reach your destination). The farther the better because the view of the main lake gets better as you move up. You can relax for a bit and then walk to the town. As I said there is nothing much to be done. You can go to the lake and do boating and eat kadhi chawal there. A piece of advice, after it gets dark its sort of shady. So try reaching your hotel while the sun is still up.
Next day you can book a cab and go to Sattaal and Naukuchiyatal. They are in opposite directions but can be covered in one day as they are not very far. Sattal is one of the quietest Lake i have been to. You can go for boating and enjoy the serenity. On the way to Sattal do not forget to ask your cab guy to stop on the view point to admire the upper view of the lake in between of no where. Then you can move to Naukuchiyatal and in mid way you can do paragliding. Its a very short glide as in it lasts only 3-4 minutes but trust me its worth it. It costs around 1500/- INR.
Naukuchiyatal is again a lake place. It has a famous temple. You can just go have some cold coffee at the lake side cafes and rest for sometime. You can move from there in an hour for Bhimtal. Try taking the same cab to hotel as getting other cabs at that time might get difficult.
You can also try going to Nainital the next day but there is nothing so special as its always very crowded. Though a visit will not harm.
