We took the DDN Janshtbdi till Haridwar. Reached around 8p.m. and stayed a night. You'll find good budget rooms near the station itself. We chose Treebo. GMOU bus stop is barely 1 km away, a little ahead of the state bus stop. Here you'll get a bus for Rudraprayag/Kund.
We moved towards Rishikesh after a little sightseeing instead of going to Kund. We found better rooms near Laxman Jhula. Indulged in shopping and river rafting. You will get a GMOU bus on the left hand side bus stand. Both bus stands are adjacent so it could be confusing.
We left early to catch the 5a.m. bus to Rudraprayag and reached around 12p.m., bus fare cost 200 per person.
From Rudraprayag we had to hustle a lot since transport is not fixed and people fool you to take private taxis. Fortunately, we caught an almost full shared jeep for 100 per person and had an extremely bumpy ride. Reached Ukhimath and then took a private taxi to Chopta for 1000. Touch down at Chopta around 2:30.
We trekked till the meadow just 1 km into the trek to sight see and stayed in a room owned by the dhaba for Rs 500.
At 5, we started the Tungnath trek. Easy for the first 1.5 km but had a little difficulty passing through snow since it rained the night before and the path was still fresh but with the help of another group, we could complete the trek. It's one of a kind and gets the adrenaline rushing. Coming back down was extremely easy and being April there were large number of groups visiting.
We started our journey back Chopta-Ukhimath-Rudraprayag-Haridwar-Delhi
And reached the next day.
