What a charged feeling it is when you randomly decide to take a road trip. This was the time when we suddenly realised that daily routine is getting monotonous and requires a pause. We decided to get in our cars and head straight to Rishikesh.
Our journey started at 4:30 in the morning and we started driving from Delhi to Rishikesh via upper ganges canal road instead of Delhi-Haridwar highway as the road was having least traffic early in the morning and we were enjoying the view as well, greenery all around. There were a few good
Dhabas where you can have a descent breakfast.
As we covered our distance till Roorkee, temperature variation was quite evident. We reached there at 12:30PM and it was the time for us to decide our stay, wether a hotel or camp but foremost for us was to have lunch. The food in Rishikesh is simple but pure. While having lunch we made a consensus to go for camping by the river, as it would be something different and also the first ever for us . After much of research we found the perfect camp for us - ' River and Rock adventure' at Muni ki reti and the guy named Maddy ( the owner ) helped us plan everything from stay to adventure activities.
The fun started with the rafting. Thier team took us to the uphill starting point on a jeep carrying all rafting equipments and the boat . Our instructor made sure we knew all the rules and ways to row the boat .
Now, began the adrenal rush !!
We enjoyed every bit of that 10km ride. From diving into the river , jumping from the cliff , just two of us rowing the boat in mid of the rapids .... we did it all. The water of the Ganges was so so cold that our brain and body literally froze when we jumped into the water . After the cliff jumping , we halted to have some maggi and tea. The view was SPECTACULAR during our entire 3 hours of rafting. After changing our clothes .. we headed towards our camp which was some 20 km far from the city. What a wonderful place it was..isolated from the city crowd in the lap of the garhwal, streams flowing adjacent to it- Raw and peaceful. By reaching there at 6 PM, had our refreshments, made new friends at the camp and enjoyed the bonfire night under the the full moon.
Next day we planned to woke up early but were a bit late due to crazy night, however we managed to wake up by 7 and enjoyed the beautiful view from our camp. Weather was extremely cold ( we advice you to take heavy cloths along if you plan camping).
We then had breakfast and amazing tea by view and left the beautiful plave by 10AM.
We reached Delhi by 4 Pm, our random, short yet sweet journey came to an end this way.
P.S. - According to us the best season to enjoy the real beauty of Rishikesh would be Nov-Jan, as it is least crowded and dearer to pocket.
