Chopta, the Unsung Paradise in Uttarakhand That No One Talks About

Tripoto

Chopta is a wonderland where you cease all your thoughts, fall in love with nature, and simply gaze in awe at many peaks located at a far distance. It has the perfect combination of scenic beauty, adventure, and everything you need for a memorable vacation. Chopta is one such place that offers a soothing sight of snow-laden Himalayan Ranges and lush green meadows.

Chopta is considered the base camp for several treks. The two major treks here remain Tungnath-Chandrashila and Deoria Tal. The Chopta-Chandrashila Trek being 5 kilometres, and Deoria Tal Trek being, only 3-4 km long are treks for all and fails none. I toured Chopta in the month of April with one of my friends. It was a week-long journey.

We began by visiting the Deoria Tal first. We spent two days up there. It is situated at a good height of 7, 800 feet, the lake is gripped with forests all around. At a short distance ahead, the Chaukhamba massif glistens and the reflection of it is caught in the crystal-like waters of the lake. After spending two days up there we took our ride to Chopta and took a hotel there.

The next morning we began our trek to Tungnath which is the highest temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The trek was so beautiful and rich in flora and fauna. Unfortunately, we missed visiting the Chandrashila peak because it was snowed everywhere and it also started raining.

We watched the amazing show of lights and shadows played by nature. It was a surrealist thing to be a part of. We came all the way down wet in the rain but we didn't regret it because of the things we saw and this is how we wrapped our trip up. Chopta was a beautiful experience and I would love to visit that place again.
