Char Dham

The Char Dham yatra is one of the important pilgrimage circuit for Hindus located in Garhwal region, Uttarakhand. The Char Dham is a sacred Journey which is Yamunotri ( Yamuna river) Gangotri (Bhagirathi river), Kedarnath (Mandakini river) and Badrinath (Alaknanda river).

We took a package from Delhi to Delhi which costed Rs.25K includes breakfast & Dinner.

If anyone planning to do char dham I suggest taking group package or private cab, to avoid struggling for public transportation.

Registration is compulsory to visit all Dham in package it will be taken care by travel agent or register online

We started our Journey from Delhi to Haridwar and visited few places in Haridwar and stayed overnight.

Yamunotri – is the source of Yamuna River and the seat of Goddess Yamuna, it is situated in altitude 3293 metres

From Haridwar we reached Barkot and stayed overnight, which is nearby town to Yamunotri

Next day we started our day early reached Janki Chatti from there 6 kms trek to Yamunotri.

After darshan we went back to Barkot stayed overnight.

Gangotri - the banks of the river Bhagirathi – the origin of the river Ganges, it is situated in altitude 3200 metres

Stayed: Uttarkashi

Places to visit: Uttarkashi Vishwanath temple, Shiv Gufa

Next day we started early from Uttarkashi to Gangotri from parking we must walk about 1km to reach the temple had darshan then we spent some time near river.

Kedarnath - Shri Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the eleventh out of twelve Jyotirlingas of India, it is situated in the altitude 3584 metres

Stayed: Guptakashi, (can stay in Sonprayag which is more close to the Kedarnath trek starting point)

Places to Visit: Vishwanath temple

We started early morning from Guptakashi reached Sonprayag, took a Jeep to reach Gaurikund as private vehicles not allowed after Sonprayag.

Started our trekking from Gaurikund around 9.30 AM reached Kedarnath 7.30 PM approx.20 KMS trek moderately difficult trek.

Stayed overnight in the tents next day had darshan of Shri Kedarnath and started our trek down.

Options: Trekking, Horse, Palki, Doli, Helicopter

Badrinath – Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it is situated in the altitude 3100 metres.

Stayed: Pipalkoti

Next day we reached Badrinath temple must walk about 1 to 1.5 km to reach temple.

Visited Mana village, it is situated near the Indo-Tibetan border and is one of the last villages in India, origin of Saraswathi river.

Next day after visiting all Char dham places we reached Rishikesh spent 1 day here and next day reached Delhi.
