Charles A. Sherring, a British anthropologist once wrote this about Uttarakhand - "In those lovely valleys there is still the romance and poetry of life: each tree has its god, each bush its spirit"
And it's true!
Uttarakhand always leaves me stranded for words surrounding me in its high-rising Himalayas, the tree-covered hillsides and enchanting lakes. It is a dramatic land covered with holy peaks, lakes and rivers which makes it one of the finest getaways for a pleasant holiday retreat from our hectic city routines.
On a cold foggy January morning this year, I along with my blogger friends set off from Delhi for Naukuchitaal - A hidden gem in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Literally meaning 'lake of nine corners' this breath-taking lake is adorned with lush, verdant trees. According to popular folklore, the glance of all the nine corners in one go would obtain one with paradise.
Located in the Nainital district, this picturesque location can be easily reached by road or rail. Being around 250 kms away from Delhi, a self-drive vehicle was our most convenient option. The nearest station is Kathgodam from where there are plenty of private taxis and buses. The interstate bus service from Delhi to Naukuchiatal is also a preferred option by solo travellers and backpackers.
We were warmly welcomed by the owner of Lake Pleasant Cottages & Resort and his friendly dog. Over the next few days, we explored the peaceful environs and gorged on delicious Kumaoni cuisine. Trips to the mountains are best celebrated with some friends, music and bonfire! The warmth and fun of sitting around a fire, while conversations flow is what made the nights memorable.
I believe travel meetups are amazing opportunities for bloggers to socialise and meet new people in the field. It's the best way to learn what's trending in the blogging world, get helpful tips and see a different perspective on everything. You bump into people related to your niche and take benefit from their knowledge in business.
Naukuchitaal will surely win the hearts of nature lovers. Imagine yourself sailing in a colourful boat in the midst of thick green forests of Uttarakhand. Sounds tempting right? This quaint town also offers a significant number of adventurous activities like rowing and paragliding.
Located at an elevation of 1220 m, this enthralling lake is an offbeat destination surrounded by some exotic varieties of birds and wildlife where one can unwind and watch the sun draping the mountains with its shine all day.
Take a hike in the surrounding forests if your heart craves for some adventure. Tap the wanderer within you and discover delightful little paths around the lake and along the woods. Try relaxing in a hammock while you immerse yourself in the pages of your favourite book gazing at the stunning scenic vistas before you.
