The untamed beauty of the Himalayas finds its best reveal with the Kuari Pass Trek, a journey that takes you through Uttarakhand’s enchanting Garhwal region in winter. Starting from Rishikesh, this trek unveils a world of adventure, passing through quaint villages like Karchi and leading to the serene Khullara Campsite, surrounded by verdant meadows. 

This moderate difficulty level trek, reaches its pinnacle on reaching the destination -  Kuari Pass, perched at an elevation of 3,875 Mtrs. This vantage point offers panoramic views of majestic peaks like Nanda Devi, Hathi, and Dunagiri. Each day of this 6 day trek reveals a new story – from mystical forests to vibrant high-altitude meadows. Along the way, immerse yourself in the rich culture and warm hospitality of Himalayan communities.

Participant Eligibility and Health Requirements for the Trek

 

  • Open to participants aged 8 years and above.

Experience Level

  • First-timers are encouraged; previous trekking experience is appreciated but not required.

Physical Fitness

  • Must carry a 12 kg rucksack.
  • Ability to cover 4 km in 32 minutes without undue stress is essential.

Health Requirements

  • Resting Pulse Rate: 60 to 90 bpm
  • Blood Pressure: Diastolic 75–85 mm Hg, Systolic 100–130 mm Hg
  • Respiratory Rate: 12 to 20 breaths per minute
  • No history of liver or kidney issues.
  • No diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, heart problems, or hypertension.
  • BMI under 25 (exceptions for those with heavy bone density or regular weightlifting).

Pre-Existing Conditions

  • Must declare any medical conditions or medications in the Self Declaration form.

Special Casual Leave for Government Employees

  • Government employees can avail up to 30 days of Special Casual Leave (SCL) for trekking expeditions organized by registered adventure operators like Parvat Exploration.

Note for Junior Trekkers

  • Participants under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Trekkers aged 15 to 18 can participate solo with a signed disclaimer from a parent or guardian.

Itinerary
  • Distance: 275 km
  • Duration: 10 hours (Drive)
  • Begin your adventure from Rishikesh, a spiritual haven, embarking on a scenic drive toward Karchi Village. En route, pass through the charming town of Joshimath, soaking in the awe-inspiring Himalayan landscapes and the cultural richness of the region. Upon arrival at Karchi Village, the base for the Kuari Pass Trek, settle into the tranquil atmosphere of this quaint hamlet for a restful night.
  • Karchi Village (2286 M) to Akhrotghetta Campsite (2870 M) via Lord Curzon Trail
  • Distance: 5 km
  • Duration: 4 hours (Trek)
  • After a hearty breakfast, leave behind the idyllic Karchi Village and venture onto the historic Lord Curzon Trail. This trail, famed for its beauty and significance, guides you through lush oak, pine, and rhododendron forests. The trek gradually transitions to open alpine meadows before leading to the Akhrotghetta Campsite, surrounded by serene walnut forests. Rest amidst nature's embrace and enjoy the stunning backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks.
  • Distance: 5.5 km
  • Duration: 3 hours (Trek)
  • Resume your trek, ascending towards Khullara Campsite. This leg reveals breathtaking vistas of verdant meadows and majestic mountain ranges. Upon arrival at Khullara, relish the serene environment and prepare for the next day’s thrilling adventure.
  • Distance: 9 km
  • Duration: 7 hours (Trek)
  • Begin your most exciting day, trekking through alpine meadows and rocky trails to reach Kuari Pass. Standing at 3875 meters, the pass offers panoramic views of Himalayan giants such as Nanda Devi and Trishul. Soak in the grandeur of these snow-capped peaks and capture the moment before descending back to Khullara Campsite. The return journey offers time to reflect on this awe-inspiring accomplishment amidst the tranquil mountain atmosphere.
  • Distance: 11 km
  • Duration: 4 hours (Trek)
  • Bid farewell to the serene Khullara Campsite as you descend back to Karchi Village. The trek through forest trails and meadows allows you to cherish the incredible memories of your journey. Immerse yourself once more in the peaceful village setting, enjoying your last night in this picturesque location.
  • Distance: 275 km
  • Duration: 10 hours (Drive)
  • Conclude your adventure with a drive back to Rishikesh. Relive the highlights of the trek—stunning views, cultural experiences, and a sense of triumph. Depart with a rejuvenated spirit and a treasure trove of memories from this Himalayan escapade.

- Booking and Payment: Booking with PARVAT EXPLORATION signifies unconditional acceptance of these terms.

- Inherent Risks: Trekking and mountaineering involve risks, including weather changes, accidents, or service deficiencies. Participants must accept these risks and ensure personal fitness.

- Fitness Responsibility: Assess the difficulty level of the trek and ensure adequate fitness. Disclose any medical conditions during booking. Failure to do so may result in trip termination without a refund.

- Itinerary Modifications: PARVAT EXPLORATION reserves the right to modify or cancel trips due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural calamities, political unrest). Extra costs arising from such changes are the participant’s responsibility.

- Refund Policy: No refund for unused services or voluntary/involuntary trip termination.

- Refunds for canceled trips will follow the cancellation policy.

- Behavior Expectations: Participants must behave appropriately during the trip.

- PARVAT EXPLORATION reserves the right to terminate a participant's trip for causing distress or danger to others.

- Communication: All communication will be via the email ID provided during registration. Updates to email IDs must be shared in writing.

- Luggage Responsibility: Participants are responsible for their personal belongings.

- Third-Party Services: PARVAT EXPLORATION is not liable for deficiencies in services provided by third-party vendors.

- Extra Expenses: Costs not mentioned in the itinerary (e.g., insurance, visas, personal expenses) are the participant’s responsibility.

- Emergency Situations: Participants are responsible for medical and evacuation expenses in case of illness or accidents during the trip.

- Awareness: Adventure travel involves risks and challenges. Participants must familiarize themselves with the conditions and assume all associated risks.

- COVID-19 Related Cancellations: A complete refund will be provided if the expedition is canceled due to COVID-related reasons.

Individual Cancellations:

- More than 30 days before the trek: 100% carry forward to a future trek or 90% refund.

- 30 to 12 days before the trek: 50% refund or 75% carry forward.

- Less than 12 days before the trek: 10% refund or 25% carry forward.

- Notification Requirement: Cancellations must be notified in writing to hq@parvatexploration.com. Refunds will be processed based on the cancellation timeline mentioned above.

- Trek Cancellations by PARVAT EXPLORATION: In rare cases of cancellation due to natural calamities, political unrest, or government orders, a voucher for the full trek fee will be issued. The voucher is redeemable within one year for any trek.
