The night before the trip is always anxious n sleepless in excitement ...No matter many times you decide to rest well for a road trip and mind you the sleeplessness does not take a toll on getting tired the next day 😉.. First pitStop being Udaipur
Stay : Raj Palace : the typical palace feeling little haveli with lanterns n White Walls ..amazing food and reasonably priced.. In the heart of the market n just 5 mins from city palace
Places to see: we aren't very keen on temples etc so our day was completed dedicated to the city palace n Jag mandir .Having always been enchanted by forts n palaces this one did not let me down. Beautiful carvings, crystals ornaments , curved windows overlooking the city , Rani Mahal, sheesh Mahal it really is a lot n lot of walking but surely worth it ...Lunch was a shahi affair at the Jag mandir a biryani I would never forget ..
Ended the day with the lighting of the palace and back to hotel to soak our feet in some hot water over tandoori n hukkah
Next day was the market to go thru the intricate paintings, chilling at the hukkah parlours, savouring some chats and Ghevar and over to the Rana Pratap garden for some Chetak stories .
Day 2 : was stopping to see a few ruin beauties on the way to Jaipur
Stop 1 : Abhaneri : little village between Udaipur n Jaipur which has a heritage step well . It's a miracle of architecture to see how well it's designed.Surrounded by beautiful carvings this place is a gem lost in wilderness.
Stop 2 : Chittorgard Fort : famous for the story of Rani Padmavati .. the fort does like in ruins but is worth a venture if you love exploring pages of history...Such a huge structure still standing in all it's glaze
We stayed over at Jaipur : next day was exploring Jaipur
Amer fort , Hawa Mahal , Jantar Mantar and dinner at chowki dhani
Stay: Umaid Bhavan a palace n royal stay experience when in Rajasthan!.. do not miss their laal mass
Day 4: Agar with a stop at Fatepuri sikri to look through Rani Jodhas palace ... Apart from Taj Mahal, red fort ..do not miss the mouth watering chat and kebabs of Agra . Petha obviously tops the list here
Day 5 : was the way back with an overnight stay at Udaipur.. going was the highway which we took and on return was the Bharatpur - Nathdwara - Sreenathji route till Udaipur..
Road conditions r amazing and if you feel tired there r a number of Decent hotels on the highway for a quick rest ... Eating options on the highway are really good with Gujrati, Kathiyawadi, Rajasthani options all the way as you pass the states..
