Simple question. Name living things?

Your answer will be Human, Trees, Birds, animals etc. Right.

Would you ever write stones? Never.

But here stones are alive. This kingdom belongs to them and we are tiny little creature in their kingdom. Yes, the place I am talking about is Hampi.

Now if you are wondering what is this place, here is the quick refresher about it.

Though, what is not there in wikipedia is how I felt about this place.

If you are heritage buff like me, you would love Hampi to its core. I am sure you may come out of this place but the place will always be with you for all your life. Right here is our own "Petra of Jordan"

The place used to capital of Vijayanagar empire and has seen great wealth and opulence at its peak. The remains are still there to tell stories about great era gone by.

No doubt the symbolic "Vijaya Rath" aka "Chariot Wheel" appears on our currency too.

There is something for everyone at Hampi. The names rhymes with Hippie and yes it is famous Hippie place too. The locals say "Happy in Hampi like a Hippie". Now dont go running there for the Grass...:-)

Its stones out there and Grass is not easily available. You can always take a trip for Virupaksha temple, Vijaya Rath, Matang hill, Queen enclosure etc.

Take a good certified guide because stones tell stories but you dont know the language. Local guides do. So save on booze budget for a day and spend that on good guide. You wont regret it.
