This time we decided to take a trip with a tour group. It was with L&L Travel, their site is tours4fun.com. The trip started from Flushing, Queens at 8.30am. The bus was pretty comfortable and almost full. Our driver was pretty good and working for a long time in this industry. The tour guide Chris was young, professional man with lots of energy.
Our first stop was in Boston where we took a short 45minutes trip in the Boston harbor. It was a very short trip and I wish I could get off at the Navy museum and see those ships which was docked there. Due to time restriction that was not possible. Someone coming from New York wouldn't find the Boston skyline as much appealing, that's for sure. But still it was fun.
Then the next stop was in Salem Witch Museum, Salem. Salem is the oldest city in Massachusetts. They created a museum where they show how it was back in days when someone was practising witch culture and so many people were convicted and killed because of this. I really didn't find this quite interesting.
Then we stopped for dinner and headed to our hotel. We stayed in Black Bear Inn & Conference Center, Orono for two nights. It was a pleasant stay, the rooms were big and clean. Only thing you need to worry is about your internet signal and wifi. The hotel wifi was very poor quality. During my entire tour my mobile network was very unreliable and dropped every now and then which was very annoying. I use Tmobile and found out verizon and AT&T has pretty good signal.
Next morning we went to Bar Harbor and took a 2 hrs cruise where we have seen Eagle, Harbor Seal and possibly a baby whale. The Marine biologist who was our tour guide and very knowledgeable about the ocean and the animals. Make sure you bundle up pretty good, it feels really COLD when you are in the water. if you sit on the upper deck obviously you get a better view. After this trip we went for lunch in the West Street. Over there you can try Lobster if you want. I have tried and wish if I hadn't. I think I enjoy shrimp or most of the fish but never will enjoy lobster because of the strong fishy smell. Don't forget to try the Blueberry soda which is a local product, it's really interesting drink and I wish if I could get this in New York.
Then we headed to Acadia National park which I was patiently waiting for. We went to the Cadillac Mountain Summit and then to the Jordan pond. The summit has an awesome view of the Bar Harbor bay and lots of small islands and other mountains. Then Jordan pond is on the flat land but it also has a wonderful view. It also has a hiking trail, but I couldn't because if time limitations.
On our way back we stopped by at York's Wild Kingdom, which is a small zoo. It was a cute place. But I felt that all the animals are in a small cramped place. I felt bad looking at the tiger and lion enclosure. Why it should be so much painful for these beautiful animals. They have acres after acres unused land which they should be able to create a bigger space for these big animals atleast. They should really consider this seriously.
Our last stop was Mystic aquarium in Connecticut. it was really fun. I was always fascinated by the ocean life. They have so many different kinds of fishes, Beluga whales, sea lions, seals etc. It was fund. But again Beluga whales were kept in small enclosure. Which I didn't like at all.
I have attached lots of pictures from this trip which will give you definitely an idea about what to expect. I am about to create an Youtube channel for my travel videos. I will add the link here for you to view it.
Enjoy reading this and try to take this trip, its well worth it.
