The story of pancakes I loved more than my husband (I think!) #foodmemory #IWillGoAnywhereForFood

I'm a foodie. No, it's not a mere claim. I own a zomato gold membership. I have been to almost all highly rated restaurants in Ahmedabad. I try to eat all cuisines. When I met my mother in law before getting married, I told her I might not cook the tastiest food but I sure will take her out to eat that tastiest food. That is how much I know about my food.

I love to travel. All the research, planning, booking, brainstorm sessions with husband give me an altogether different high. I'm always on hunt for our next travel destination irrespective of the practicality.

Travelling to different places and trying different foods is what I live for. And imagine if I get to eat mouthwatering food with absolutely breathtaking backdrop, you would also be stuck in that moment forever, won't you?

It happened to me when husband and I travelled to Turkey and Greece in May 2019. Yes, last month so it is still fresh in my memory. As fresh and gooey as the dish I had. Nope, not revealing the dish yet!

After covering Istanbul, Cappadocia, Athens, and Meteora, we finally landed at Santorini, the dream island of many and obviously me. When I came across the beautiful pictures of Santorini online, I knew right away I had to visit there some day. And that some day dis come. We flew from Athens and landed quite early around 8AM.

We reached our hotel in Firostefani around 10AM. Although the previous guests checked out, the room had to be cleaned so our wonderful host Georgia suggested we come back in two hours or so.

We thought we would have breakfast and stroll around a bit. We were actually searching for cheap eats or even reasonable ones. We then chanced upon this restaurant To Briki. Lol, the restaurant was far from cheap but the view. Oh. My. God. We had to eat there.

We made ourselves comfortable on the corner table. You can see the view from our table in the pictures.

Those being the last 3 days of our trip and since there was some surplus money, we went all out. Ordered an omelette dish with little sausage pieces cut up, served with salad on side. The other dish, the dish which still haunts me in my dreams (in a good way) was the classic nutella pancakes with hazelnuts and strawberries.

The warm, gooey goodness of the pancakes and the sinful nutella's feel in my mouth first made me tremble and sent a shiver down my spine. Initially I thought the view was so beautiful how will I concentrate on the food. But these pancakes. The pancakes straight from delicious hell of chocolate where all chocolate sugary lovers like me end up I suppose. I took one bite, savoured it, looked at the backdrop again and took another bite. Nothing, I repeat nothing can top that moment in my life. I ignored my husband completely whilst I devoured my share of pancakes as he sat waiting impatiently for his turn.

I took my sweet time in relishing and enjoying what was on my plate. Who would have thought the basic pancakes would drive me to insanity. I don't think I will ever have tastier pancakes nor do I want to. That memory is forever sealed in my heart, mind and on taste buds.
