Universal Studios Singapore is the best way to start your Singapore exploration. You get accustomed to walking since the very first day and for the rest of the trip, walking doesn't bother you! It is divided in seven zones namely Hollywood, Madagascar, Far Away, The Lost World, Ancient Egypt, Sci-Fi City and New York. The minute details taken care of while building the Studio is worth appreciation. Each zone is beautifully crafted to give you its typical feel. People quote that Universal Studios is for kids. I strongly disagree to this. It is for each and everyone who can enjoy happiness out of small things. We started off with the Shrek Ride in Madagascar followed by the Jurassic Park ride. The best and the most unforgettable part was - Transformers - The Ride in the Sci-Fi City. It was an unexpected delight and we couldn't resist ourselves from taking the ride again (after waiting for 50 mins in the queue) as once was not enough!
Jurong Bird Park is all colourful with a wide variety of birds that you can see almost everywhere around the park. The High Flyers Show is the "man of the match" with the trained birds performing awesome acts. The little tram helps with less walking and takes you around the park.
The one destination which defines Singapore's night life, Clark Quay is a colourful and vibrant destination nestled along the Singapore River. A proof to the fact that Singapore never sleeps. With restos, bars, pubs and talks and laughters all over, no doubt it is one of the most happening destinations for youth. We enjoyed sitting by the river and soaked in the wonderful lights and vibes!
Gardens by the Bay is a marvel in itself. Cloud forest and Flower Dome are two conservatories inside Gardens by the Bay which are crafted with excellence. Cloud forest is a man-made forest with a magnificent waterfall, which greets you at its entrance. You have taken the lift to the top and descend from a suspended bridge enjoying each minute aspect of the man-made forest. Flower Dome displays flowers from all over the world carefully cultivated in a controlled atmosphere. The colours and the variety of flowers that you can see in this dome are spell-bounding. It is a definite treat for nature lovers and a must visit destination in Singapore.
Sentosa Island is a trump card for Singapore, being a tourist country. Amongst the three ways to reach Sentosa from mainland Singapore, the Sentosa express, Sentosa Boardwalk and the Singapore Cable Car, we preferred the Boardwalk. The travelators make it easy to walk through the comfy Boardwalk alongside the vibrant Singapore River. Adventure continues even outside Universal with the Megazip Adventure Park and a lot of 4D rides inside Sentosa. The Water Park and the Aquarium are a cherry on the top of Sentosa. The island is always full of activities. There is something for everyone and a day is not enough to see it. The Huge Merlion in Sentosa, the one on which you can climb is said to protect the prosperity of Singapore through its legend. With the Merlion's blessings, Singapore is definitely made its mark in the global nations. Awesome public transport, huge cuisine options, numerous tourist destinations, friendly locals, cleanliness and its vibrancy surely makes Singapore amongst top destinations to travel from India!
With lots of research, we stamped upon Singapore as our year's holiday destination. Thanks to the amazingly wonderful internet, we could gather all required information online and make our bookings easily. The World's Gateway to Asia - is what they rightly promote Singapore for! In just two words, Singapore can be described as a man-made marvel. A truly dedicated system exists to make your life as simple as possible.
We visited in June, so the weather was all hot and humid and it rained anytime. But you have to tolerate the humidity only till you are anywhere outside. Once you enter any indoor structure you get to enjoy the efficient air cons. We chose and booked a hotel close to MRT station. The MRT system in Singapore is worth experiencing. The stations, maps, trains are so well-organised, that it is very hard to get lost. One can easily move from one end of Singapore to another with the efficacious public transport. The trains and the buses link you to almost every possible destination in Singapore. We bought a Singapore tourist pass which allows unlimited travel on to the trains and buses for a limited period. That was the best part. At the stations, "Give way to alighting passengers" is followed religiously and in case the train is crowded ( not the definition of 'crowded' as in the Mumbai locals , a much subtler version ) you can easily let go a train and get another in less than 2 mins. We were in love with the system and walked to the MRT each day eager to take the train to our destination.
