I loved this place because it looked like Rapunzel's castle to me. It was like those castles we have always visualized while reading fairy tales. It was a beautiful castle and and had so much historical importance. We went and in detail explored the whole of the castle, saw all the rooms and stain glass paintings. It was a very enriching experience.
The Cardiff Castle is huge and majestic. It is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion situated in Cardiff, Wales. As the castle is so big, the visitors are given a map of the whole castle and they can choose with ease which parts interests them the most. For me, I visited the House, the Keep and the Clock Tower. There is a gift shop too from where one can buy souvenirs. Average ticket price is:Adults (17-59yrs) £9.00Senior citizens (60+yrs) £7.50Students £7.50Children (5-16 yrs) £7.00
Here we visited the Butterfly farm and the Shakespeare Center. Its a beautiful town and is popular because it is the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The Butterfly Farm was a different experience because I hadn't visited one before. Here there are thousands of exotic and colorful butterflies flying around. There is a Caterpillar room where you can see butterfly rearing and a Insect City as well.Visiting the Shakespeare Center was very amusing as I have grown up reading his plays and drama in school.
This is the smallest village of England and has a population of about only 350 people. It has a old church which we visited which had the first ever clock made in history. We also visited the Old Rectory Tea place and had the best scones I have ever tasted. This village is a very cute place and leaves you with a very delighted mood.
This city has been declared as a World Heritage site and it is historically very important. This is the place where we spent the maximum time so we explored it in and out. Bath is a place which is full of places which are of great historical importance such as the Jane Austen Centre, Thermae Spa- where you can lounge in the 2000 year old Roman Baths, the magnificent Royal Crescent, The Circus, Pulteney Bridge and Bath Abbey.
Here we visited the Birdland in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire which is situated in the Cotswold district. The Birdland was again a lovely experience as I got to see some of the rarest birds and species there. I saw the King Penguins, a species I have always been fascinated about. I also spotted Flamingos, a Black Swan, Macau, Peacocks, rare species of Owls, etc. It's a perfect place to go on a bright sunny day with your family.
I loved reading books when I was younger and from as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated about the United Kingdom. My brother went to study in the City of Bath for his PhD and hence I got my chance to visit the UK during my summer holidays. UK for me was not about being all tourist-y and availing the Hop-on Hop-off Bus services in London.
UK for me was about the countryside, the romance in the air and the beauty of the greens. I have always been a person who loves exploring new and unusual things. I do not like the quintessential way of doing things and hence I wanted to explore the "roads less travelled''. I had gone with my parents and we availed of a private cab service to drive us around the countryside.
With my brother’s help we formulated a list of places in and around England which were unique and were rich in nature’s bounty. Staring from the smallest village of England to a Birdland with the most unique species of birds, to the City of Bath which has been declared a World Heritage site, we had our itinerary all set up. Our base was in Bath and we used to hire a cab every alternate day and go and explore a particular district.
