Udupi is a perfect place to start any journey , its like the interlock of many places around which could be covered within a day.
So our main intention is too have a good ride and relax in a place which is less crowded.
The place which i have not covered is the Uttar Karnataka side , hence we planned to visit the Mirjan Fort- The fort which saw many battles.
We Left udupi around 6 am , and reached Mirjan by 10 am , and like how we expected that fort was quite empty.
Historically , this fort has changed hands many times , it was built by the Channabairavadevi of Tuluva clan, under the vijaynagar empire , Supposed to be the important port for Spices and the queen was called as the Princess of Pepper.
Fort Mirjan has various stories associated to it , as there is no concrete evidence on the same.
Though its less crowded , there is less information on the history , i would require more information on the fort or its importance , there was no board or any thing that can explains the history.
The Fort has lots of passages that connects to the the lake nearby , unfortunately it was closed
The fort has a witnessed lots of battles , and it was a power house as the trade route was popular during Pre-independence era.
Like mentioned before , there is less information on the fort and authorities really need to maintain this fort as we saw many people scaling the heights and spoiling the fort
Mirjan Fort is best visited during the monsoon, as the fort will look very beautiful with all the greenery around.
Better to carry your food and water as we only found one small shop .
Lastly , Mirjan Fort is should be remembered not to be forgotten.
