"IT IS BETTER TO SEE SOMETHING,
THAN TO HEAR ABOUT IT A 1000 TIMES."
This is one phrase which has been etched in my brain and hence while making travelling plans when a friend told me that 'have you visited TURKEY, its a truly amazing place',
I thought it best to see it for myself to believe her. And boy oh boy! I think that she really would have wanted to say soo much more about the place but was left without words just like i was at the end of this trip.
Turkey truly is one place which has it all:
One of the oldest cities in the world - ISTANBUL. Literally sitting on two continents..!!!
The magical land of CAPPADOCIA which is one of the best geographical wonders of the world.
The unrealistic natural phenomenon of calcium cliffs in PAMUKKALE.
Ancient world wonders in the sites of HEIROPOLIS, CLEOPATRA POOL and the best one of all EPHESUS.
and ofcourse for the beach buffs scores of beach towns and resorts along the AEGEAN SEA AND THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA with waters as good as they can get...!! Infact Turkey is one of the hottest destination for enjoying the summers along the coast.
I will be detailing out all the cities i visited in different posts as there is too much to write for each one of them and one pist alone wont do justice to it at all. Its actually not the description but the my emotion behind the description that doesnt let me take these shortcuts.
So my trip to Turkey with 5 best of my travel buddies spanned over 13 days covering a fair bit of the country.
Over the course of the trip we travelled extensive in Istanbul and embarked on an epic road trip from Cappadocia - Antalya - Pamukkale - Ephesus - Kusadasi - Alaçati, before returning back to Istanbul for a day and finally saying bye to this beautiful country.
If u guys feel that 13 days is a lot of travel, trust me guys at the end of these 13 days we were left hungry for more and felt we hadnt done justice to the country at all. Even months would be less to take in the beauty the country has to offer. And not only the natural beauty, but this country has marvellous architecture which is a result of it being under different dynasties and also along the infamous east meets west trade route since centuries.
One can clearly see Persian as well as Roman influences all over the country. Infact Turkey has been a site of some of the most famous wars fought between the Persians and the Greeks and the Romans.
A lot of people and countries advise you against going to Turkey for the reason of it being unstable. But trust me guys i saw no hint of unrest over the places i visited. Infact Turkey has some of the warmest people i met who are ready to go out of their way to make you as a tourist feel comfortable and welcome..
TURKEY has my heart by all means and i have promised myself to visit it again for sure, a different season as the magic of TURKEY keeps changing with different seasons and each season has something to offer more than the other.
P.S. - As an Indian vegetarian traveller, i faced absolutely zero problem travelling all over the country. Infact people all over understand the concept of vegetarianism and go out of their way to feed you even if there are not many vegetarian items on their menu. And yes guys even the vegetarian food in Turkey is to die for, i can only imagine what the carnivorous lot of you can have on offer there. It is truly a food haven for the foodie in you.
