Just like poetry, the most enriching experiences are realised when recollected in tranquility. I don't mean to fill you up with any sort of "what-ifs", but a trip to the Ziro Music Festival is fully capable of changing your life.
Here are my recollections from my favorite event of the year.
The Ziro Music Festival experience begins the moment you leave your home with a few tickets in hand, a backpack prepared for the apocalypse and a desire to get lost in music.
On your way through the muddy trails, in the quest for music, you will find friendships, collect stories for a lifetime and realise that 'getting there' is just as fun.
The Ziro Music Festival is one of those rare celebrations, which seamlessly brings together the beauty of nature with the enigma of music.
En route, it feels that no one else could possibly be headed where you are, but once there, the valley is brightly decorated by compatriots who have traveled hundreds and thousands of miles only to be brought together by a shared love.
The beautiful thing about sharing the same space with these people is that the vibe of an already majestic place transforms into a massive gathering of peaceful like-mindedness.
The Ziro Music Festival NEVER repeats a band. No same artist has performed here twice, and that privilege just adds a different layer of energy to the artists performing in that moment.
Despite being hard-rocked out of your heads, the valley and the bright stars will allow only a little bit of getting lost, followed by a massive dose of natural wonder!
Experiencing Ziro through the Ziro Music Festival is like walking into a candy store as a child, and finding that it is made entirely of your favorite kind!
There is no perquisite to reaching here. If you are alone at the Ziro Music Festival, know that there is a lot to keep you company.
This isolated valley of an extremely underrate state, metamorphs into a temporary home to India's best music. But on other days, it is just another village tucked somewhere in the hills, cradling a people and culture, which is fascinating beyond imagination.
The three days pass like a beautiful dream, intoxicated by music and coloured by the hues of divine nature.
If you missed the festival in 2016, too bad!
But make sure to jump on the bookings now that they are open for 2017. Don't miss out!
