Hola Amigos!
Let me give you a intro on what's this fuss about, real quick. I'm a recently graduated software engineer, working from home. The pandemic had taken a toll on all of us, so after the restrictions were lifted, I thought to rather work from hills. I'm based out of India, and this is all about the 17-day long post-lockdown trip that I went on, while roaming all around Himachal Pradesh. So this is gonna be a series of articles depicting each day with a post.
Rules around here:
1. This trip was done in October 2020, but I'm bringing this to you guys in November. This is a fact that I stated just so things remain crystal clear between us.
2. I'm writing this now since I thought about starting to blog just recently, and also because I want to relive the whole experience.
3. This is a 16-day trip, and I'm stating this as Day-zero since this is an introductory post. I'll post each of the day as a separate article, and all days would be covered.
4. All of these articles would run in the present tense, so it would feel like all of it happened on the same day as you'll be reading it. This is so that you can also live this trip with me.
5. Most Important: Don't be confused if you find yourself asking 'When did this actually happen ?'. Frankly, that doesn't matter.
Where am I coming from?
I traveled in a BlaBla Car from Roorkee to Chandigarh. BlaBlaCar is a life-savior app that let's you share rides with someone going your way, for a much lesser price. So it's basically a carpooling app, a more reliable kind of hitchhiking.
Then I met my friends in Chandigarh, and we took a BlaBla Car from Chandigarh to Old Manali. It took me a total of 16-hours from source to destination.
I'm working from my home in Ahmedabad. If it wouldn't have been for this coronavirus pandemic, I would have joined my firm in Bangalore. But everything around has gone hay-wired, so why not me?
Day-zero Travel
We reached Manali late at night, but I had already talked to the owner at House of Amigos Hostel (that has now become goStops Manali). He was kind enough to host us, and this kindness gives me a feel that we've arrived in the mountains!
