I am no pro at trekking. Triund is my first experience. I chose November end so that it doesn't get too cold for me to trek. Here are the winter apparels I packed.
Rule of thumb: Please pack only what is absolutely necessary. If you are camping, your winter apparels is sufficient to get through the cold night. There are shops at intervals on the way to summit so you can refill water, have some hot maggi and chai. At the camping site, dinner, tent and sleeping bags are provided by the guides. If you are on your own, you can rent tents and sleeping bags.
Even though you aren't planning to camp at Triund, you need certain apparels that can help you keep a bit warm. My personal choice is Decathlon. They have everything under one roof.
1. Thermals:
This the first layer of apparel. They should be at least 1 size smaller than what you are going to wear so that your body feels warm.
2. Fleece Jacket:
Fleece jacket goes above your tee shirt/shirt.
3. Down Jacket:
It goes above your fleece jacket. Now, many say that Triund is not as cold as the other treks out there. But I bought one as I was camping. And it was the best decision I ever made. Buy a jacket that has a hood !
4. Shoes:
Decathlon has variety of options that you can choose from. Make sure the shoes have good grip to be able to walk on all trails and has at least medium ankle. The staffs there help you out with this. Decathlon also has those different trail set up where you can actually try out the shoes. My personal choice is Quechua.
5. Miscellaneous:
Apart from the above layers, you will need gloves, woolen socks, a neck warmer and a beanie cap. A neck warmer is not a must but it is an individual's call. Jeans are not a "go to" when it comes to trekking. Instead go for Trek pants which are also available at Decathlon. They are breathable and give you comfort.
Tip: Do not go with cotton socks.
Hope this post helps you guys. Happy Trekking and happy looking at the mighty Dhauladhars ❤
