What To Do With Already Booked Flight Tickets During This Lock down

I hope all are aware of the situation. If Not let me keep it simple.

The entire Nation is locked down for almost 21 days to fight against Corona.

No one knows whether it can be extended or not. But the sole purpose of a lockdown is to trace all positive COVID-19 Cases and to prevent Local transmission (which is the deadly stage of COVID-19)

There are many out there who had already planned their trips including flight tickets as well. So this article is completely focused on helping them out without a major loss to their pockets.

For train Tickets:

If you had planned your trip through Indian railways then leave the booking as it as. Trains are officially canceled by the Indian Railways department and are being converted into isolation wards to meet the upcoming demands. So the total refund will be done to the source account.

If you manually canceled them, the cancellation fee will be levied as its an automated system. So better not to cancel manually and leave as it as.

For Flights Tickets:

It's not possible to write about each online platform like Paytm, Goibibo and all. So I will be writing the basic process here. This may be varied with some of the Ticketing Partners. So please do check with your ticketing partner as well.

Many of the Airlines Gave 3 options for the customers who booked tickets during the COVID-19 Crisis.

1) Change the Travelling Date at Free of Cost:

A very useful one and the best one. One can change their traveling date on the airline's official website by using their PNR. PNR is good enough to make it work for you. The platform you used to book doesn't matter here. But do check the terms and conditions before proceeding. For example, Air Asia Listed this on their website but the trip must be completed Before October i.e You can't change the date of travel to November... So you must plan your trip before October 2020 to use this option.

2) Cancel and get to complete refund to airline wallet:

Just a fair one. It may be useful to a few out there who won't bother about the budget. One can cancel the flight tickets and choose an option to refund. One of the options among them is to select the airline wallet to get a complete refund without cancellation charges. I.e If you Cancelled your indigo flight, refund would be done to indigo wallet which can be used for your next flight booking. The only point is there are no cancellation charges.

3)Get Refund to Bank:

I won't recommend this. The ticket amount will be returned to the bank after taking away the cancellation charges. I hope you are aware of flight cancellation charges. Just don't go with this.

These may or may not apply for all. Some are getting messages regarding their flight cancellation so that you can proceed as per the emails and messages you got.

Double-check the official websites before cancellation. Do as soon as possible as most of the support systems are being operated on emails and it will be delayed. Act Now.
