The Plan for Hyderabad to Kuntala Waterfalls..
Once we exit the ORR, We had to stop at Kucharam for 5 min to check Tire air pressure (Cost: Rs. 20) and to clean the windscreens.
Then we continued our journey on NH44 for 21Km and reached Manoharabad Toll Plaza (Toll fee Rs. 105) at (I didn't note the time :P ) we decided to pay all the toll fee for return journeys as we have planned to return on the same day.
Then we continued on NH44 crossing my hometown Chegunta for 53Km to reach Bhiknoor Toll Plaza at 07:15Am where we coughed up Rs. 90 as toll fee. Then we started realizing we are starving as we are already 3hrs into the day and we need to have breakfast.
While we are searching for restaurants/dhabas on NH44 on our way from Hyderabad to Kuntala Waterfalls, we've covered 49Km to reach Indalwai Toll Plaza at 07:45AM and paid Rs.90 as toll fee, and one of my cousins cracked a joke "We pay more money on toll fee than the money we pay on fuel"
Then we decided to halt our journey to Kuntala Waterfalls to have Breakfast at Armoor. It was a 35Km drive from Indalwai Toll Plaza. In Armoor, we searched for Udpi Hotels as i am a huge fan of Sambar and Vadas in Udpi Hotels. We found a place Geetha Bhavan Udpi near New Bus Stand Armoor. My friend and I had 3 plates of vada and my cousins had 2 dosas and 1 plate Idly and finished with Horlicks and Tea. Breakfast was decent here and it costed us Rs. 239 which is reasonable.
With all happy tummies we started our journey back to Kuntala Waterfalls on NH44, meanwhile we are checking Google Maps now and then just to make sure we haven't gone off the track. Then we reached Gamjal Toll Plaza after travelling 32Km at 9:15Am and paid Rs.65 for toll fee.
After Gamjal, on the route from Hyderabad to Kuntala Waterfalls OMG!! The highway and the landscapes alongside the highway are amazing. It was little cloudy and the beautiful scenes made us stop to take few photos at a village called Medipally. We found these two boys Sathish and Anurag who snapped few photos for us in our mobile cameras.
While we were thinking Kuntala Waterfalls is right around the corner, there comes another tollgate at 10:10am, Neredugonda Toll Plaza only to cough up another Rs. 110. It's just 300mtrs or so to take a right turn onto Kuntala road. we paid another Rs. 50 just before we entered into Kuntala village at 10:30Am, looks like Forest Department officers, they checked our car to make sure we are not loaded with alcohol. As law abiding citizens, we didn't carry any of them. :P
Finally, our journey from Hyderabad to Kuntala Waterfalls comes to an end. It was too humid, we thought it would be good to have shorts rather than jeans, and we were right. There are some 300 steps to climb down to Kuntala Waterfalls. We didn't carry any bottled water for which we regretted later.
Kuntala Waterfalls..
As this is the first time I'm visiting a Waterfall, i was awestruck. Kuntala Waterfalls is a 147Feet waterfall such a feast to the eyes. We were warned by the guards not to enter into Kuntala Waterfalls following the event happened in Warangal the previous day. So, we just stood on the banks enjoying the scene, experiencing water droplets and not to mention we took a hell lot of photos down there. We've spent an hour and a half and started to climb the steps. We were thirsty and exhausted by the time we reach the top.
To our rescue, there was Gabbarsing Restaurant. It is not a restaurant but after climbing 300 steps.. yes it is more than any Bawarchi or Paradise. We had water there took rest for some time. As they require some time to prepare chicken we have ordered to make Bread Omelet and Roti Daal. The bill was around Rs. 150. Then we returned from Kuntala Waterfalls to Sri Ram Sagar Project. Planning to have lunch somewhere on the highway as 12:45Pm is little early for lunch.
Sriram Sagar Project...
At 01:50Pm, After travelling 67Km through Neredigonda and Gamjal Tollgates. We have reached Pochampad. We paid Rs. 20 and continued onto Sriram Sagar project. On the reservoir, we found that Boating is OPEN. What a chance!! It was just Rs. 100/person. 3 of us had a boat ride in the reservoir. The speedboat operator promised us to take 1Km into it and back. Meanwhile, he performed some crazy maneuvers with the boat drifting on the surface of water. For this Rs. 100/person is definitely worth the money. Then we went to see the spillway and dam gates, unfortunately none of the gates were open. Still, it was a nice boat ride. Then we returned.
It was not until Dichpally we found a decent Dhaba. We have ordered Chicken Curry, Anda Bhurjia with rotis. Tummies are happy now at Rs. 430. We took some rest and checked air pressure in tires then started to Hyderabad. We've stopped at my hometown Chegunta to pick few things.
Then, It was too late for lunch and we also realized we need to refuel the car. We found an Bharat Petroleum COCO Petrol Bunk (Company Owned and Company Operated) filled up Diesel for Rs. 1600 (27.49Litres). Then we started searching for Dhabas. We are literally Starving...
We have reached at Uppal at 08:00Pm. It was a pleasant trip from Hyderabad to Kuntala Waterfalls , we have enjoyed a lot.
